Sew the 2˝ × 42˝ inner border strips together and cut into 2 strips 2˝ × 601/2˝ for the sides and 2 strips 2˝ × 56˝ for the top and bottom. 3. Sew the side inner border strips and then the top and bottom border strips to the quilt. Press the seams toward the inner border. 4. Sew the 31/2˝ × 42˝ outer border strips together and cut into 2 strips 31/2˝ × 631/2˝ for the sides and 2 strips 31/2˝ × 62˝ for the top and bottom borders.

Sew the outer border strips to the sides and then the top and bottom of the quilt. Press the seams toward the outer borders. 9. Layer the backing, batting, and quilt top. Quilt as desired. Bind the edges (see Binding, pages 76 and 77).
